About Lil Red Hen Quilt Shop
Lil Red Hen Quilt Shop is family-owned and operated right here in Paola, KS. Since purchasing the shop in 2011, we’ve treated every customer like they were a part of our family. Other companies may offer similar services, but our services are the best, and come with a personal touch.
I was born and raised in Paola. I have been quilting for over 20 years. My mother taught me how to quilt when I came home from college one weekend, and we have been quilting together ever since. We have had many fun trips to Paducah, Nashville, and all across the state of Kansas to numerous KQO meetings. I am a member of the Miami County Quilters Guild, currently serving as Treasurer and a member of the Ozark Country Quilters in Cassville, Missouri. I have spent many Wednesdays with the Wednesday Quilters and will miss them all very much as I get my new business up and running.
I graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1990 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance. I moved to Prairie Village after I graduated and lived there for 10 years. During that time, I attended UMKC and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. I also worked part-time at Harper’s Fabrics at their old location in the Village Shopping Center. That’s when I started to develop a “stash”.
I mostly machine piece, but have been known to appliqué. I’m always excited to learn a new technique or try out a new gadget. I would rather hand quilt, than machine quilt… but, I can recommend some wonderful machine quilters to those who are interested.
I live in Paola with my husband, Ron and our two dogs, Inga and Coco. Ron and both of our families have been very instrumental in getting the shop up and running. We’ve been working very hard on our new location and hope that our customers will love its quirkiness as much as we do. It’s become our new home away from home although Ron is anxious to get back to working on his yard. The leaves are starting to bother him.

We carry wool in worsted,and bulky weights. We have a small amount of acrylic/wool blends and cottons. We have lots of sock yarns in wool and cotton blends. Our yarns come from Universal, Brown Sheep, Cascade and Kraemer. It is our pleasure to provide knitting and crochet classes. If you are looking for something specific, please contact Jenny or Ginger and we will be happy to help you.
